Good Shepherd Jn 10
The good shepherd knows his sheep. He protect his sheep from wolves. The sheep know his voice. He lays down his life for the sheep. That’s the kind of leader I want to be. Jesus-like leaders know, protect and sacrifice for their followers. They do not run from danger; they do not pad their own pockets and protect their own interests.
Jesus offers life, abundant life; life that is rich and full and real (John 10:10). He is the only way to that kind of life.

Bruce, as a good shepherd we are tasked with guiding our flocks, our families, not only into the safety of Jesus’arms, but also as safely as we can through this troubled world until we can be safe with Jesus. In Bill O’Reilly’s online column this week he speaks passionately against the American culture’s turn toward a “progressive” point of view where the use by children of technology like cell phones for “sexting” is both tolerated and even supported. We, as Men of God, have to stand firm against the erosion of a moral position that focuses on “what would Jesus do.” The politically correct position in this progressive trend appears to be one where if it doesn’t hurt anyone else, it is a right…drug use, sexual promiscuity, abortion, same-sex marriage as examples. The damage being done by this societal trend to our children can affect generations. For myself, I an committed to creating an army of good shepherds among those who follow Jesus. I believe that this could be an important tenet as we look to building the bigger community of God among churches as you discussed in a prior blog. I thank God for McKinney Fellowship and your leadership. This is where I look for hope that our community of good shepherds can make a difference to our children’s future.
